The World Bank, through the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Developpement, agreement to make to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania (the Recipient) a grant in an amount USD     273 000, the grant for Support to the Accountancy profession.

The purpose of the Grant is to support the accountancy profession by elevating the standards and improving the quality of the accounting and auditing practices in the recipient's territory the activities for which the Grant is given are as follows.

(a)    Adopting international Audit Standards and General Professional Guidelines & Ethic code

Acquisition of the International Accounting Standards by the Ordre National des Experts Comptables de la Republique Islamique de Mauritanie (ONECRIM) and undertaking of reforms, through technical advisory services, dissemination and promotion of the new standards and guidelines (publishing, seminars and workshops), and study tour for ONECRIM officials.

(b)   Establish Audit Quality Review Scheme

Audit Quality Review (AQR) Scheme on the Private Accounting Profession to assure of compliance with the issued standards, including: (i) drafting curriculum, (ii) adaptation and training of users to the practice of peer review control system, and (iii) printing and disseminating the AQR guidelines manual.

(c)    Set up Resource Center (Information Technology)

 Establishing a Local Area Network (LAN) resource center for ONECRIM, through technical advisory services, procurement of textbooks/journals and desktop computers,  and improving the website.
